High demand for bond loan Windpark Westermeerwind, but subscribing still makes sense
From 6 May to 6 June, all residents of the municipality of Urk, Noordoostpolder and former Lemsterland aged 18 and older can buy bonds from Windpark Westermeerwind. Interest in doing so appears to be high. The maximum amount of €5 million (10,000 bonds of €500) has already been reached. So does it still make sense to subscribe? The answer is a resounding yes!
Allocation based on brick-and-mortar model
As the maximum amount of €5 million has been reached, the allocation of bonds takes place via the so-called ‘brick model’. Under this, each bidder first receives one bond, then a second and so on until all bonds are distributed among all bidders. In practice, this means that, on balance, the largest subscribers receive fewer bonds than they subscribed for.
This method of distribution allows as many local residents as possible to benefit from the wind farm and be financially involved in the energy transition. As a result, even though the maximum amount has been reached, it still makes sense for small and large investors to subscribe to the wind farm bonds.
How does the subscription for bonds work?
- Subscription closes on Thursday 6 June at the end of the evening. During the subscription period, you indicate the amount you wish to buy bonds for. You can also pay for them already. You subscribe for the actual amount you want to invest.
- After the subscription closes, there is a four-day period during which, if you have not already done so, you can complete your identification and pay for the bonds you have subscribed for. This is possible until 10 June 2024.
- We will then determine how many €500 bonds can be allocated to each individual subscriber according to the method mentioned above. If you are allocated fewer bonds than you paid for, the difference will be refunded to you. All subscribers will be notified of this by e-mail. This is expected to happen no later than 18 June 2024.
